An update from the smallest member of the household.
Hi friends! Georgie here.

It's been a while since Mom let me take over the blog, and apparently, she's putting me to work again. I'm starting to think I need to renegotiate my contract because I'm severely underpaid around here.
Although, I suppose I can't complain too much.
Most days, my responsibilities include looking cute, eating snacks, chewing on my favorite bones, going for walks, and sleeping pretty much whenever I feel like it. I also have a personal assistant who prepares my meals, makes my bed, and picks up my poop.
Her name is Mom.
So, I guess I've got a pretty good arrangement.
Anyway, I have SO much to tell you!
First, let's talk about the egg situation.
You guys. I don't even know where to begin.
Remember how I was itching like crazy and Mom had to take me to the emergency vet? Well, apparently, we think we figured out what was making me so miserable.

EGGS.
Yes. Eggs.
The very eggs Mom had been putting in my homemade food because she thought she was being such a good dog mom.
I mean, seriously, mom. How could you not know?!
There I was, minding my own business, eating my delicious homemade meals, while Mom was apparently trying to kill me with breakfast.
Okay, okay. I'm being a little dramatic.
She felt terrible about the whole thing, and I know she would never intentionally make me sick. Plus, I'm feeling SO much better now. No more scratching myself silly, and I'm back to my usual happy self.
And honestly? I've decided to forgive her - this time, but next time might a different story.
Mostly because she moved us to what might be the greatest place on Earth.
My new backyard is ridiculous.
I don't think you guys understand just how much there is to sniff out here.

At our old place, I had my usual spots. You know, the important ones. I'd check them every day, make sure everything was in order, and go about my business.
But HERE?
Oh my goodness.
Everywhere I turn, there's another smell. The grass smells different over here than it does over there. And then there's the area by the trees. And the bushes. And that one little patch of ground that I absolutely MUST investigate every single morning.

Mom doesn't seem to understand why we need to stop every six inches, but I'm doing very important research.
We've been walking around the property every single day, whether it's raining or the sun is shining.
Sometimes Mom wants to keep moving, but I really don't see what the rush is. We've got land, and somebody has to do it.
Also, what's happening to the trees?
When we first moved here, everything was green except for this lone reddish tree.
Beautiful, normal, green trees.
And now?
They're turning yellow. And orange. And red all over.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on.
Mom keeps talking about how beautiful fall is, so apparently this is supposed to happen? I'm not sure I understand it, but I do love walking through all the leaves.
They make the most interesting noises under my paws, and sometimes they blow across the yard all by themselves.
Naturally, I have to chase them.
And then there are the BIRDS.
I have never seen so many birds in my entire life.
They're EVERYWHERE.
I can sit by the window and watch them for ages. Little birds, big birds, birds hopping around on the ground, birds flying from tree to tree.
It's better than television.
There are even some birds that Mom doesn't seem particularly fond of.
I keep hearing her outside saying things like, "HEY! Get away from the house! Stop trying to put holes in my house!"
Apparently, they're called flickers.
I don't know what a flicker is, but judging by Mom's reaction, they're not supposed to be redecorating the house.
Personally, I find the whole situation fascinating.
I'll just sit there watching while Mom tries to reason with a bird.
So far, I don't think the birds are listening.
Mom says I have to be careful out here.
Now, before anybody worries about me living out in the country, I want you to know Mom is being VERY protective.
Maybe a little too protective, if you ask me.
We have this enormous yard, and I would absolutely LOVE to run around wherever I please.
But nooooo.
Mom says I have to stay on my leash because there are coyotes and big birds out here that could hurt me.
She keeps talking about something swooping down and scooping me up.
Excuse me?
First of all, I'm pretty sure I could outrun a coyote - maybe?!?
I'm very fast when I want to be. You should see me when Mom opens the treat drawer. I fly around the corner as soon as I hear the bag opening. Trust me, my ears hear everything.
But Mom doesn't seem convinced.
She says I'm only twelve pounds and apparently that's not enough to be intimidating to the local wildlife. Plus she "short-leg" shames me and tells me my legs are too short to out run them. I may have to go see a therapist soon.
Whatever.
I suppose I'll tolerate the leash because I do enjoy our walks, and I know she's just trying to keep me safe.
Besides, between you and me, I kind of like having her close by.
Don't tell her I said that.
I think we're going to like it here.
There's something different about this place.
Mom seems happier. She's always looking out the windows, watching the birds, staring at the trees, or stepping outside to see what the sky looks like.
I think mornings are her favorite. She's always making me stop so she can point that thingie up at the sky, smiling and telling me to "be still because you're shaking the camera."
I don't understand why we have to keep stopping. I'm just trying to sniff things and find a good place to pee, and she's over there taking pictures of the sky like she's never seen it before.

And can we talk about how COLD it is out there in the mornings? There's this weird crunchy white stuff all over the grass that makes my paws cold. Mom thinks it's beautiful. I think we should go back inside.
Honestly, I don't know how she has so much energy before breakfast. All I want is a warm house, a comfy bed, and my breakfast.
Preferably without the eggs this time, Mom.
We spend so much more time outdoors now, and I get to explore new things every single day.
Sometimes we just sit together and listen to everything going on around us.
I like that part.
I don't really care what the house looks like or how many acres we have. I just know that Mom is here, my favorite bed is here, my bones are here, and every morning I get to wake up and go exploring with my favorite person.
And I think that's pretty wonderful.
Even if she did try to poison me with eggs.
(I'M KIDDING, MOM.)
Oh, and apparently I have a job to do.
I almost forgot why Mom gave me the keyboard in the first place.
She's asked me to let you know that she still has some Mail Club catch-Up prints available from her Snail Mail Club!
If you're new around here or missed one of the previous months, you can still get some of the beautiful little things she's created.
I've included pictures below so you can see what's available.

The Story Post mail club catch-up prints
💌 You can shop the catch-up prints here: https://shop.amberjbaldwin.com/collections/mail-club-catch-up-prints
I think she makes some pretty cute stuff, although I do feel like there should be more dogs featured in her artwork.
Just a suggestion, Mom.
Anyway, that's all from me today. I've been working on this blog post for entirely too long, and I'm pretty sure I've missed at least two naps.
I'm going to go find a bone and see if Mom wants to take another walk.
Love,
Georgie 🐾
Chief Treat Officer, Bird Watcher & Very Underpaid Employee
P.S. Mom, if you're reading this, I would like to formally request a raise. Preferably in the form of snacks. No eggs, please.
P.P.S. I'm kinda new to this whole blogging thing, and Mom told me I should ask if you like hearing about our adventures from my perspective. So, if you enjoyed my little update, leave me a comment below! I'd love to know if you want me to keep writing these.
I'm calling it Georgie's Diary for now. What do you think?
I have a feeling Mom might be a little surprised by how much I have to say. She thinks I'm this sweet, innocent little girl who just follows her around all day. And I am sweet, of course. But I've also got opinions, and I know exactly how to get what I want.
Between you and me, we all know who's really in charge around here.
But let's not tell Mom. She seems pretty happy thinking it's her. 🐾
